Most of the world now has access to mobile phones; it's not like a few decades back when mobile phones were only used by the rich and businessmen. internet telephone phones have turned into a type of trend - even kids as low as 10 years old are getting mobile phones given to them on their birthdays or Christmas, it's hard to imagine that a decade ago kids would have never even dreamed of having a portable phone and now they're a necessity.
Phones these days are about much more then just speaking, you can record videos take pictures, play games and even surf the internet and this is the major attraction of them now. But one thing that probably annoys a lot of mobile phone users is the chargers. Have you ever been somewhere and released you forgot to charge your phone? You then ask friends and family but no one has a charger that is compatible with your unit.
Well this is where it all comes to an end. The world largest mobile phone creators and network operators have finally put themselves to good use and come up with a plan that will create universal chargers and phones.
As we already know most manufacturers such as Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, LG, T-Mobile, Orange, 3, AT&T and Vodafone all use there own unique chargers. Due to the pressure by the EU to develop a standardised charger the manufacturers devised a great plan that will also save up to 50% less energy then traditional chargers.
The charger basically connects via the micro-USB connection which is seen on most new handsets that are being released. This all comes as great news to the environmentalist who are constantly rallying for less polluting handsets. Samsung also announced that in the latter part of 2009 they will be releasing a solar panel mobile phone which has the ability to fully charge itself if left in the sun.
It just goes to show that if manufacturers are pushed we could be eliminating a lot of unnecessary pollution that is being caused in the world. I mean how hard would it have been to release a universal charger when mobile phones hit the main stream? I think the car industry should quickly follow in the footsteps of the mobile phone market and rid of the petrol guzzling and pollution emitting vehicles and release a lot more hybrid and electric cars.
